Travelling Solo? We are here to help you!

    Hello everyone. When it comes to traveling, we get really pumped up with energy and adrenaline if we are riding a bike… So, many people keep overthinking about going to a specific destination for having fun. The most common factors that come to mind are money, food and stay. Actually, you don’t have to think about it much. As India is already growing as a tourist country, many people have got a chance to make money by renting out hotels, homestays, Dharamshala, etc. But first, fix your destination. If you are going to do a one-day return trip, then most of the things mentioned below to carry are not needed. Just get your bike started and get going! Vrrooooommmmm !!!

    So, if you are traveling solo on a bike, make sure that the bike is in perfect condition. Also check that you have enough petrol to catch up to the next gas station (In India, a Petrol Pump :P). Then the things you should carry with you depends on the duration of your journey.  Get a 35-50 ltr. Ruck Sack (One which is used for hiking/ trekking). Pack the bag pack in such a way that most of the useful things are included in the bag. Some of the items to pack while solo traveling are as follows –

1) Clothing –

* Towel, Hand Towels, Napkins/ Handkerchiefs
* Loose T-shirts
* Some Full T-shirts
* Leather/ Woolen Jacket
* Jeans / Cargo Pants
* Undergarments

2) Sanitary Items –
* Toothbrush, Toothpaste
* Comb, perfume, deodorant, talc
* Good quality sunscreen lotion
* Hair Gel
* Sanitary Napkins / Tampons (For women)
* First Aid Kit

Check out this pic for reference.

3) Digital Accessories –
* Action Camera, Charger, 2 SD Cards, Extra Battery
* Digital Camera
* 2 SD Cards, Adapters, 2 Camera Batteries
* 1 Extra Mobile for emergency calls
* Camera Charger, 2 Mobile Chargers
* 2 Travel Chargers for mobile
* Laptop and Charger (Optional – if going by car)
* Good Quality Sunglasses

    So, this is the main stuff you have to pack while traveling solo on a bike. Now, you will say that how can I fit all the stuff in one bag? Right? The solution is to get a Saddle Bag with its mount and get the extra stuff in the Saddle Bag on the bike. Get a waterproof rain cover for your bags so that all the stuff inside remains dry till you reach your destination. Also check the forecast of the weather of your place and the place where you are going. Get a sleeping bag too, if needed just in case… You know what I mean…

    The above list was exhaustive. You can adjust and carry the quantity of the items mentioned above as per the duration of your stay. The next thing is money. While leaving for the ride, carry enough cash and also carry your debit card/ credit card so that you don’t face any financial problems ahead.

    If you are booking a hotel before the ride, make sure that it provides breakfast, lunch and dinner at the quoted price on the website by calling the hotel before booking. Because most of the hotels do not disclose the hidden charges for food and room service. They even charge for a Bisleri Bottle as high as Rs. 40/- with the room service charge. And breakfast, lunch and dinner charges applicable as per the dishes we ordered. This has happened to me on Tirupati Trip.

    As a matter of security for fellow women riders, when you get in the room, please check that there is no hidden camera installed anywhere in the room. Especially in the washroom. Because many hotel managers/waiters install such cameras and record the private moments of people inside and sell those videos for making money.

    Lastly remember, when you check-in to the room, check all the appliances or fixtures for any faults in front of the waiters because while you check-out the hotel, they directly charge you with the malfunctioning of some items. If you find out any such items, report it to the waiter or reception counter immediately.
